CURLYTREATS Postponement Until Spring 2021
Friday 17th September 2020
Dear friends of CURLYTREATS
Following the increasing number of cases of people with COVID-19, this week, the government announced further restrictions to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in England, including extending the ban on mass gatherings.
As a result of the government’s decision, CURLYTREATS has now been forced to further postpone until 17 April 2021.
As per our terms and conditions, CURLYTREATS will automatically transfer all tickets to the rescheduled date. Rest assured we will continue working behind the scenes to be ready to deliver a safe yet fantastic event in 2021, we will also continue to closely monitor the government announcements relating to the coronavirus and all mass-gatherings.
After spending the past year preparing for the event, the whole CURLYTREATS team are upset and disappointed that we cannot connect in-person – and we know that many of you share in our disappointment. Unfortunately, our hands have been tied, but we do understand the importance of keeping everyone safe.
We are well aware that CURLYTREATS is a vital event in the natural hair community. We also understand the importance of continuing the fight against hair discrimination and creating a safe space where we can be empowered to celebrate our natural beauty together. So many of you have been reminding us that great things happen when the community comes together and connects at CURLYTREATS Festival.
In addition to planning future live events, CURLYTREATS will be delivering online talks relevant to our community, starting in October 2020, more information will follow shortly.
We would like to thank you for your continued support, flexibility and patience during challenging times.

Ensuring the safe and welcoming return of CURLYTREATS Festival
Tuesday 1st September 2020
Hello friends and family,
We miss you! But do not fear, we’re still here! As a small team, we are busy working hard behind the scenes planning the safe and welcoming return of CURLYTREATS Festival on 31 October 2020.
Small festivals like ours do not survive without your support so thank you for being patient in the confidence that we can all join together again very soon.
In this unprecedented time, the health and safety of our team, exhibitors, visitors and fans is of paramount importance to us.
That’s why we’ve been working hard to implement some essential measures that means you can attend the event safely and securely – while still enjoying a great CURLYTREATS Experience.
The Association of Event Organisers, Association of Event Venues, Events Supplier and Services Association and its various stakeholders have developed the industry-wide All Secure standards that raise the bar on safe, hygienic, productive and high-quality organised event experiences – approved by the UK government.
CURLYTREATS All Secure is how these standards are being adopted in our business:
1. Enhanced cleaning
Working with our venue partner, undertaking enhanced, deep cleaning before, during and after our the event to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. This includes continuous sanitisation throughout the course of an event, with a focus on high-touch areas such as door handles, public toilets and food and beverage areas.
2. Personal hygiene
Additional handwashing facilities and hand sanitising stations throughout the event space, encouraging all participants to regularly wash and disinfect their hands.
3. Non-contact registration
A system that facilitates non-contact registration for participants, including the availability of online registration.
4. Physical contact
Requesting that event participants avoid physical contact, such as handshakes and embraces, promoting alternative ways to greet each other. The exchange of printed materials, such as business cards and sales brochures, will also be discouraged, with digital alternatives recommended.
5. Physical distancing
To maintain a density of participants in line with local authority regulations and venue or other relevant guidance. This will be managed through one or more control measures such as pre-show communications to participants, a one-way traffic system around the event floors, staggered entry times, on-site signage and floor markings and on-site social distance ambassadors.
6. Food and beverage
The event team will work closely with our venue partners to employ the highest standard of food safety, minimising self-service buffets in favour of pre-packaged food options. If any queuing is anticipated, social distancing will be maintained through the use of floor markings and relevant signage.
7. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Participants will be asked to wear a face mask on entry. Further items of PPE, such as gloves and eye screens, will be used by participants and staff if appropriate, in line with local government and health authority advice.
8. First aid
The event will have access to a qualified first aider and a separate quarantine area if possible. Participants will be asked not to attend if they are feeling unwell, and teams will follow local health authority guidance on detecting and managing anyone who displays symptoms of COVID-19.
Our event will follow relevant health authority guidance on screening participants. This may include checking the temperatures of everyone on entry, through thermal scanning or other screening processes.
10. Trace and contact
Should it be necessary, we will work with the local authority to trace and contact participants at the event subject to local privacy regulations.
In the first instance, CURLYTREATS events will run according to official government and local authority guidance as well as any venue regulations. Also, we will follow CURLYTREATS All Secure as our priority commitments.
A massive thank you for your ongoing support of the CURLYTREATS vision that is “Together We Celebrate, Together We Empower”, without you CURLYTREATS would not be possible.
We can’t wait to see you soon!
In the meantime – Stay Safe.
